The “Safer Medical System” includes the two-way voice system in the pendant as well as an integrated GPS for use while traveling. This system is also an excellent choice for families of Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia patients, who may wander from home.
The “Safest Medical System” includes all of the features of the first two packages, but offers fall detection technology to alert you and the medical authorities in the case of a fall, even if your loved one does not press the PERS pendant button.
Why is fall detection important?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 35% of Americans older than 65 and 50% of those age 75 and older are prone to falls. Without the necessary, immediate assistance, falls could lead to serious injury or even death. In fact, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that falls lead to 800,000 hospitalizations each year.
Falls aren’t the only emergency that warrants assistance. Heart attacks, strokes, coughing seizures, and panic attacks could all require assistance which may be otherwise difficult to receive without a personal medical alarm. However, falls are the most common emergency scenario, simply because they are often the result of other conditions where one may lose muscle control, consciousness, or even one’s balance.
